Celebrating her 10th birthday this year, Louis Vuitton’s Pochette Métis made her debut in 2012 and is still one of the most highly sought-after styles at the French fashion house to this very day.
As versatile as it gets from day to night all thanks to its roomy silhouette, it is also a super functional piece fitted with an adjustable (and removable) shoulder strap as well as a top handle that can be ‘flattened’ when not in use. And here are 5 more reasons why this classic bag is here to stay.
01 – For starters, the star of the Pochette Métis has got to be the gold-tone S-lock closure sitting at the tip of the V-shaped front flap. A design element taken from Louis Vuitton’s hard-sided trunks and luggage, this bold clasp will keep your essentials safely ‘locked’ within while adding that extra bit of shine with the gold-tone hardware coating.
02 – Today, the bag is available in a variety of makes, from the classic monogram and the Monogram Reverse canvas to full leather options such as Monogram Empreinte in the embossed supple-grained cowhide leather. Louis Vuitton also delved into an updated version of the House’s signature motif, launching the large monogram (think of it as an oversized version) in Bicolour Monogram Empreinte for the icon last year.
03 – Not every bag gets to be included in Louis Vuitton’s ‘My LV World Tour’ personalization service, but the Pochette Métis is one of the select few that’s available for customization. You can choose the bag’s trimming and lining color by going for a Black/Rouge Flamme option instead of the classic Natural/Brown. You can also add a variety of trunk-inspired labels onto the front and back of your Pochette Métis, including heritage stickers derived from Gaston-Louis Vuitton’s private collection.
04 – Good looks aside, the bag is surprisingly roomy as well. There are three inner compartments to keep your essentials, and you will be surprised to find that it will fit along with continental wallet and even the largest of iPhone models in its 25 cm by 19 cm by 7 cm body.
What’s more, you can even add on a sling/strap of your choice from Louis Vuitton’s wide collection if the standard-issue ones are too dull, or you just want to change things up a little without needing to buy a completely new bag.
05 – All that’s left is the price, and there have been some revisions to take note of. The ones in monogram canvas are now priced at SGD3550 each, while the Monogram Empreinte and Bicolour Monogram Empreinte ones in leather are slightly higher at SGD3900 and SGD4100 respectively.
